Mission

The Council of Presidents of the Environment acts as an advocate for environmental conservation and sustainable use of natural resources through supporting and helping to coordinate the efforts of the local environmental NGOs and CBOs by promoting public environmental awareness

Vision

The vision of COPE is to be recognised as an active umbrella environmental organisation that is performance driven; fostering and nurturing a society of informed environmental stewards, championing the protection and conservation of the natural resources of Trinidad and Tobago

Structure and Governance of COPE

The Council of Presidents of the Environment (COPE) operates as a national network of environmental NGOs (COPEs Environmental Council) working collectively to influence environmental policy, advocate for sustainability, and build the capacity of civil society organisations. The governance of COPE is structured to ensure strategic leadership, transparency, inclusive decision-making, and operational efficiency. The organisation is guided by a framework that promotes collaborative leadership and clear accountability across all levels of operation. At the core of COPE’s governance is the General Assembly, which functions as the highest decision-making body shaping the organisation’s direction and priorities
